Green Property Solutions

Does going green for a property or a business really pay off?

Yes, green businesses have lower costs due to savings related to energy and water efficiency and usually see a decrease in garbage bills.  Additionally for building owners, higher occupancy rates, higher rents and lower operating expenses will translate into higher property values.  Going green in the office or for an entire building also offers an effective way for companies to measurably reduce their carbon footprint and to demonstrate their commitment to the environment.

Studies have also shown that employee productivity benefits are estimated to be as much as 10 times the energy savings from green efforts. These benefits come in the form of lower absenteeism, fewer headaches at work, greater retail sales and easier re-configuration of space resulting in less downtime and lower costs.  Further, employees of green businesses and in green buildings will be happier and feel healthier knowing there are less toxic products in their day to day environment.

Risk Management
As the market for green businesses and green buildings increases, non-green businesses or buildings will become at-risk. Consumers are starting to favor companies that have an obvious and transparent environmental policy. Once this becomes the norm, those companies that still do not have such policies will suffer and due to the power of the internet, those companies that green-wash and make false environmental claims may suffer even more.
